Privacy Policy
Lingo Chill provides this Privacy Policy to explain how it collects, stores, and uses the information collected in connection with Third-party partners and websites (collectively, "services").
You have a right to know our practices regarding the information we may collect and use when you use our services.
YouTube
Learning from YouTube videos is what Lingo Chill is for, so our apps use YouTube API Services. By using Lingo Chill you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. How Google itself handles data collected through those services is described in the Google Privacy Policy, which we encourage you to read.
What we access. We call the YouTube Data API from our own servers, with our own API key. We never ask you to sign in to YouTube, we request no permission over your YouTube account, and we cannot see your YouTube history, subscriptions, playlists or anything else belonging to your Google account. The only thing we pass to YouTube on your behalf is the text you type when you are searching for something to watch.
What we store. We keep the public information the API returns about a video — its identifier, title, description, duration, thumbnail, and the name of the channel that published it — so that your library and history are still there when you come back. That is information about videos, not about you; it is linked to your account only so far as we need to remember which videos you watched or saved.
Playback. Videos play inside YouTube's own embedded player. When you watch one, YouTube receives the request directly from your device and may set cookies or identifiers under the Google Privacy Policy linked above, exactly as it would on youtube.com. We do not download, copy or re-host any video.
Your choices. Removing a saved video, or deleting your account from within the app, deletes the stored information described above. You can separately review and revoke the access that Lingo Chill — or any other application you have connected — has to data held by Google, at the Google security settings page.
The types of information we collect and how we collect it
Personal Information. Lingo Chill integrates several third-party SDKs into our mobile apps. These SDKs are used for advertising, analyzing service usage, or enabling in-app purchases. This could include, but is not limited to, advertising identifier (Apple's IDFA and Google's advertiser ID), geo information, and IP address. Personally identifiable data collected is either voluntarily provided by you or collected automatically by us or from our partners, and may include:
- Information you choose to share (e.g. data to identify your lost account)
- Your learning progress and account information
- Your IP address and mobile device identifiers
- Your device information, such as model name, operating system, and language
- Information on debugging and application performance
- Data made available by you via your privacy settings in third-party services like Google and Apple
- Demographic data (such as to determine the coarse location of your IP address)
- Data to fight fraud related to refunds or advertising
- Data from platforms that the apps run on (such as purchase data to verify payments)
Non-personal Information. We allow third parties to collect some anonymous information by which users cannot be identified, such as browser type, screen resolution, device type, language, operating system, and general geo location. It is used to conduct research and analysis for strictly limited purposes.
What we do with the personal information we collect
Advertisers collect data regarding advertisement performance, a user's interaction with ads, our apps, and a user's interests. Collected data may include a user's personal information in order to serve users ads and for the third parties' legitimate business interests.

The applicable data protection laws give you certain specific rights in relation to the processing of personal data that concerns you. You are always welcome to contact us with any request relating to the processing of your personal data:
- Access — you have the right to access personal data concerning you and information about how and why we are processing it;
- Rectification — you have the right to have inaccurate or incomplete personal data rectified without undue delay;
- Erasure — in certain circumstances, you have the right to have personal data that concerns you erased without undue delay;
- Restriction — in certain circumstances, you have the right to have our processing of personal data concerning you restricted;

GDPR
Lingo Chill provides language-learning applications to users in multiple countries. When data is processed to provide a product or service in the EU, that personal data is subject to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We will only collect and process your personal data when we have a lawful basis for doing so — your consent, performance of a contract, our legitimate interests, or compliance with a legal obligation. You have the right to see and access the information we hold about you; to request this, contact our Data Protection Team at privacy@lingochill.com. You also have a right to file a complaint with the data protection authorities regarding our processing of your personal data.
Analytics, cookies and other tracking technologies
We and service providers acting on our behalf, like Google Analytics, store log files and use tracking technologies such as cookies and tracking pixels to collect and analyze technical information, including IP addresses, device type, operating system version, device identifiers, browser type and language, platform type, and the date and time of activity on our apps. Companies delivering advertisements on our services may also use cookies or other technologies subject to their own policies.
Data retention
Your data will be stored by us mostly as long as you have an active account. Lingo Chill may re-assess unused accounts and de-identify unnecessary data. We will not retain your personal information for longer than is necessary for our business purposes or for legal requirements.
COPPA compliance
We are committed to ensuring compliance with COPPA. Our website, apps, and platform are not meant for use by children under the age of 13 and do not knowingly collect any personal information as defined under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA"). If we learn that we have inadvertently gathered personal information from a child under 13, we will take reasonable measures to promptly remove that information. To learn more, email us at privacy@lingochill.com.
Third-party operators
These are the third-party operators we currently use. Each may receive some of the data described above and handles it under its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to read. We do not share your personal information with operators other than those named here.
- Google — Google AdMob serves the advertising in our free tier; Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Cloud Messaging provide usage analytics, crash reporting and push notifications; Google Sign-In is offered as one way to log in; Google Play Billing processes purchases made on Android; and YouTube API Services provide the videos, as described in the YouTube section above.
- Apple — Sign in with Apple is offered as one way to log in, and the App Store processes purchases made on iOS.
- Adjust GmbH — measures which marketing campaign an installation came from, so we know where to advertise.
- Amplitude, Inc. — product analytics: which screens and features are used, so we can tell what is and is not working.
- OpenAI, L.L.C. — powers the AI tutor, the pronunciation scoring and the on-demand translations. The messages you write to the tutor and the voice recordings you make in speaking exercises are sent to OpenAI to be processed; under OpenAI's API terms that content is not used to train its models.
- Amazon Web Services — hosts our servers and database, stores images you upload such as your profile photo, and sends our email.
- Cloudflare, Inc. — sits in front of our website and API, providing encryption, caching and protection against abuse.
Speaking exercises also use the speech recognition built into your device, which on iOS and Android may send the audio to Apple or Google to be transcribed, under their own privacy policies.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We will periodically update this privacy policy to reflect changes in our information practices and to add additional third-party operators. Please check back regularly, as your continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of any changes to this policy.
